Water Meter Replacement
December 4, 2023
The Town of Dublin Utility Department along with Bitter Creek Construction will begin replacing meters on or around December 1, 2023. This mass meter changeout will take approximately 3 to 4 months to complete depending upon the weather.
The new meters will give us a more accurate measure of water usage per customer and leak detection will be quicker not only for the town but for you as a customer.
Once all the meters are changed out, then the readings will be pulled into our Utility Billing System by tower transmitters, until then, the meters will continue to be radio and manually read. The changeout process will affect the usage dates on your water bills during this meter changeout time, some bills will be less than 30 days usage and some will be more than 30 days usage depending on when your new meter is installed.
Remember, this is an ongoing process and will take 3 to 4 months to complete. Water outage/changeout per household may take anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour to complete. In some cases, there may be repairs or issues come up that will require additional time to complete the meter changeout. We apologize in advance for any inconveniences that this process may cause you.
Reminders
Meters are the property of the Town of Dublin, only Town of Dublin employees are allowed to open the meters and to shut off or turn on meters.
The new meters will have a transmitter attached, it will be a slightly domed disk on top of the meter. Please do not mow over the meter as this will damage the transmitter nor place any objects/mulch over the meters. Meters must be free of any debris/objects to transmit properly.
